Journal Metrics & Performance Policy
1. Policy Statement
Global Virology Reports (GVR) is committed to transparency in reporting its academic impact and performance. We believe that journal metrics should be used responsibly as one indicator of a journal's reach and influence, but should not be seen as a sole measure of the quality of individual articles or authors. We support the principles of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA).
2. Key Performance Indicators
GVR routinely tracks and will publicly report the following metrics on its website:
· Citation Metrics:
- Journal Impact Factor (JIF): As reported in the Clarivate Journal Citation Reports (when available).
- CiteScore: As reported by Scopus.
- Google Scholar Metrics: Including the h-index and i10-index.
· Editorial Performance Metrics:
- Median Time to First Decision
- Median Time from Submission to Acceptance
- Median Time from Acceptance to Publication
· Content and Usage Metrics:
- Total Article Downloads & Views
- International Representation of authors and editorial board members.
3. Responsible Use of Metrics
GVR advocates for the responsible use of these metrics and acknowledges that these metrics are aggregate, journal-level measures and are not applicable for assessing an individual scientist's contributions, or for funding, promotion, or tenure decisions.
4. Data Integrity
All reported metrics are sourced directly from the respective platform (Clarivate, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc.) without manipulation. The date of the most recent data update will be clearly displayed.
